Location: On-Site 4900 Daggett Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110 On-Site 2345 Grand Blvd. Kansas City, MO 64108 Eligible Candidates: Open to applicants in Illinois, Missouri and Kansas Job Summary Brown & Crouppen is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our Plaintiff Personal Injury Litigation and Pre-Litigation Practice. This role provides an excellent opportunity for attorneys early in their career to develop hands-on litigation experience while also gaining exposure to pre-litigation case development. The Associate Attorney will work closely with multiple seasoned attorneys, learning all aspects of personal injury law-including case investigation, negotiation, discovery, depositions, trial preparation, and courtroom advocacy. This is a high-energy, client-focused role that requires strong communication skills and a willingness to work collaboratively with a team of legal professionals. Duties and Responsibilities: Pre-Litigation Conduct legal research and case evaluations to determine claim viabilityWork with case managers and investigators to gather medical records, police reports, and other evidenceEngage in client consultations and keep clients informed about case progressDraft demand letters and negotiate settlements with insurance companiesCollaborate with attorneys and medical experts to assess injury causation and damages Litigation Take and defend depositions of clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing partiesDraft discovery requests, pleadings, and motionsArgue motions in court and handle motion practiceMonitor case progress and develop litigation strategies in collaboration with senior attorneysPrepare for and participate in jury trials, including assisting with voir dire, opening/closing arguments, and witness examinationsCommunicate regularly with clients, insurance adjusters, and opposing counselAttend court appearances, mediations, and settlement conferences Skills and Qualifications: 1-3 years' experience handling personal injury cases, including pre-litigation and litigation experienceJ.D. from an accredited law school and an active license in good standingBar licensure in both Illinois and MissouriStrong legal research, writing, and analytical skillsExperience handling courtroom motion practice is preferredComfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentAbility to manage competing priorities and meet strict court deadlinesAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Benefits: Brown & Crouppen offers a comprehensive benefits package, as well as a firm culture dedicated to work-life balance.
