Job Summary
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Transports and ensures prompt delivery of all incoming mail; obtains proof of delivery and maintains accurate records for Express, certified, registered, and other special-delivery items; expedite deliveries on short notice and within limited time frames as needed
Opens, verifies, distributes, and delivers internal mail items; ensures that they are given to the proper recipient; loads and monitors the mail-mobile carts as needed; moves multiple work buckets, boxes and crates; makes calls to customers to determine the proper routing of mail; and; prepares mail for delivery; researches items using all internal tracking and storage systems, etc., or any other key identifier that ensures the work item is given to the intended recipient for processing; responds to research requests
Troubleshoots machinery as necessary
Performs daily preventive maintenance to ensure that vehicles and machinery are operational, including but not limited to checking vehicle fluid levels and tire air-pressure, vehicle gauges, etc. (drivers only); breaks down equipment
Responsible for the daily reporting in either a rotation or as needed
Performs Outbound Specialist job function when needed in rotation
Updates documentation as needed
Flexibility to cover on short notice, when requested (both internal and driver)
Performs other duties as required
Education & Experience Required
High School Diploma, or Equivalent
3 years of mail room experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Job Knowledge & Skills
Possession of good oral and interpersonal communications skills to interact and provide information to internal and external customers, and ability to understand oral and written instructions
Ability to drive a commercial motor vehicle weighing between 10,000 and 22,000 pounds and to manipulate a lift gate weighing 100 pounds.
Ability to lift at least 100 pounds consistently throughout the day in an outdoor environment and push a large gurney weighing up to 700 pounds
Ability to read and understand instructions
Ability to handle assigned tasks with concentration, speed, and accuracy; ability to maintain established service levels, and ability to meet departmental requirements
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, which may include weekends and holidays
Ability to pass SEC background check
Possession of a valid driver's license (commercial driver's license preferred)
Ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds individually
Ability to operate motor vehicles (including forklifts/powered industrial trucks)
Microsoft office Intermediate
SCLogic tracking system and all equipment needed for the job
Postage meter usage
Timely responsiveness
