Ready Mix Sales Intern

CalPortland is seeking a summer intern for the Washinton Materials Division - Ready Mix Sales." This internship is ideal for an engineering, specifically civil/structural, construction or agriculture systems or business management student interested in learning about the various roles in the sales function in a large, vertically integrated construction materials manufacturing and distribution business.

• Complete all Safety and any site/job specific required training
• Become familiar with CalPortland ready-mix products
• Become familiar with customers in your assigned territory
• Completed rotational assignments in dispatch, customer support and project quotes
• Acquire the skills to quote a job and enter it into the system
• Interface with customers on the job site
• Attend a safety meeting; learn the importance of drivers to the sales function
• Support and follow all Company policies
• Practice sales skills
• Deliver presentation to senior management team about improvement in your territory

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Sales.

• Excellent communication skills; equally strong motivational, persuasion, negotiation and presentation skills
• A mind-set for strategic and analytical thinking
• Familiar with methods for tracking sales performance and market trends
• Enthusiastic and positive outlook for influencing decisions
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Comfortable at and around construction sites
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable to drive a company vehicle
