SpEd Resource Dual Cert Full Time

We're looking for an exceptional Special Education Middle School Teacher - Self Contained for a full-time position in Winthrop Harbor, IL for the 2 School year. This is a 33.25-hour per week position for the PALS (Program for Academic and Language Success) program. The goal of the program is to provide students with intensive, individualized skill development in the areas of academics and communication. Services provide access to specialized instruction and/ or curriculum with a focus on closing the achievement gap. These students have the capacity to master core curriculum at a modified level but may require very intensive and specialized curriculum and opportunities for repetition. Classrooms provide small group instruction with highly individualized research-based curriculum with the opportunity to attend classes with their typically developing peers whenever possible to promote age-appropriate academic skills and social interaction. Classroom activities are designed to enhance student independence and presented in a multi-modal approach based on the Common Core State Standards.

Job Requirements for Special Education Teacher:

• Desire to bring life-giving excellence to school-aged children
• 1 year of verifiable, supervised professional experience as a Special Education Teacher within the last 3 years (may include residency or clinical practicum)
• Valid Special Education Teacher license or credential in the state of practice, or ability to obtain one
• State School Services Credential where required
