Electrical Project manager - Transmission


Individual will work out of our Hickory Office (in Hickory, NC) with some travel required.

Salaried position. Salary commensurate with experience.


Responsibilities for Electrical (Transmission - High Voltage Power) Project Manager


We are in the Electric Utilities, Power Systems, and/or Renewable Energy field

  • Effectively plan, schedule, and manage large scale electrical projects to meet customer's needs and expectations, and ensure the target profit levels are met for the project.
  • Work directly with Division Manager to help track and implement project budgets and goals.
  • Define and communicate roles, responsibilities and authorities to project team members/partners and the customer
  • Ensure project completion in a safe manner, within budget, on schedule, and in conformance with the appropriate standards, specifications and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and understand all contract requirements.
  • Working knowledge of materials, construction methods and procedures, safety and testing, relating to industrial electrical applications.
  • Lead or participate in project meetings and conference calls for multiple projects.
  • Review invoices and applications for payment to assure accuracy of tabulations, accuracy of completion percentage, and recommend approval or disapproval.
  • Coordinates project construction with Construction Managers, General Contractors or Owners, to resolve critical time-sensitive construction related electrical issues.
  • Ensure project control documents are completed timely, to include RFI'S, submittals, schedules, change orders, daily plans, weekly and monthly reports, project status reports and any other applicable documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with estimators on all Transmission projects
  • Assign duties to staff to implement project goals.
  • Identify areas of concern and assist the team with solutions.
  • Assist with procuring materials and other items necessary for completing project goals
  • Review project implementation and gather data on project execution
  • Assist estimators in the review of estimates as requested (these estimates could include: High Voltage Power (e.g. Transmission Lines) Substations, Power Collections facilities, (Medium Voltage and High Voltage) etc..


Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering preferred.
  • Experience in the Transmission/Substation and/or renewable energy field.
  • Will consider technical school or electrical apprenticeship with 10+ years field experience in the Renewables field in lieu degree.
  • Verifiable leadership experience and capabilities, with past successful project execution
  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively to ensure successful project execution
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
  • Proven ability to generate and deliver reports that provide useful insight into project details
  • Displays tactful, mature and professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work with diverse personnel.
  • Must be capable of higher level thinking and growth in support of business development and management reporting.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with a passion for ensuring projects proceed efficiently and effectively.


Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent work experience as outlined above
  • Willing to travel as needed to meet project objectives
  • Experience within the high voltage power (electric utility and/or electric contractor field) including renewable energy, utilities or power system industries is preferred.
