Fire Fighter & EMT-Basic

The FF/EMT-B serves as a member of the firefighting team for Team Texas. The ERT operates and maintains various equipment and under the direction of a fire officer responds to fire and HAZMAT emergencies and takes appropriate action as directed, either personally or by standing guidelines The ERT may work with another provider to provide medical first response and turn patients over to EMS for transport. The ERT may operate alone as a fire and safety auditor and will complete and document inspections on fire equipment throughout the facility. The ERT may conduct fire safety audits throughout the facility and notify their chain of command when unsafe conditions are found. The ERT may serve as an instructor for the facilities hot work program and also may be called in to make safety inspection for hot work and confined space operations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Average 48-78/hrs weekly
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• College hours preferred.
• Minimum age of 20 by application closing date
• No felony arrests or DWI / DUI convictions within the last 5 years.
• Acceptable driving record.
• No hearing impairments.
• Minimum vision 20/40 correctable to 20/20, must not be color blind.
• Must currently posses TCFP Basic Structural Firefighter certification.
• Current Structural Firefighter certificate or verification of graduation date required at time of application submission.
• Must pass a written exam, physical ability test, and drug test.
