This healthcare client is a not-for-profit integrated health care system owned by the state of North Carolina and based in Chapel Hill.
The Technical Operations team for this healthcare client is seeking two junior systems administrators for a first and third 12 hour shift positions to sit in Chapel Hill. This position will be the escalation point from the service desk for any OS related issue. They will report to the Data Center and Disaster Recovery Manager.
This individual should have minimum 1 year experience working as a systems administrator in a virtualized environment. This environment is comprised of 7k servers, 90% virtualized in VMware, they currently use WSUS for patching and Solarwinds for monitoring.
This individual will be the first point of contact for the service desk overnight - if there are issues they can not resolve, two members of the team are oncall to assist.
The schedule is rotating: the hours are 6pm - 6am and the work days rotate every four weeks. It would be 12hr shifts Monday - Wednesday then a 6hr shift on Thursdays. On the next rotation it would be a 6hr shift on Thursdays then Friday - Sunday would be 12hr shifts.
Windows, Troubleshoot, Vmware, Patch, Wsus
1. Basic systems administration work, at least one year of supporting a virtualized Windows Server environment - ability to identify root cause of an issue, troubleshooting to get server back online
2. Experience with vulnerability scanning and patching - client currently uses WSUS and patches servers manually.
3. Exposure to Solar winds or other monitoring tools and solutions
Customer Service, Critical Thinking (they'll need to be able to solve problems using logic), and commitment to the shift schedule for 3rd shifts.
