Job Summary

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in raising turkeys, collecting eggs, and maintaining equipment and facilities on breeder farm by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Confers with Service Technician about production requirements and to discuss condition of equipment and status of supplies.

  • Assigns workers to duties such as collecting, cleaning and sanitizing eggs and feeding and vaccinating turkeys, and cleaning and disinfecting the turkey houses.

  • Directs maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment such as turkey houses, automatic feeders, waters, and layer nests.

  • Inspects quality of litter, shavings and nests.

  • Participates in work activities to expedite work load.

  • Adjusts lighting program as required and monitors ventilation of houses on the farms;

  • Administers medications, if required;

  • Draws blood for government inspection and in accordance to company protocol.

  • Ensures bio security measures are in place and followed.

  • Ensures that egg and egg room sanitation procedures are followed.

  • Accountable for implementing a rodent and vector control program on the farm;

  • Prepares egg production, feed consumption and turkey mortality reports.

Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

Education & Experience

As sociate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year collage or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment

This position works both in an office environment and outside on the farms. The outdoor environment can be hot or cold, dry or wet, and may be unclean.
