Job: Agronomy Technician
Location: Great Falls, MT 59404
Expected Duration: 6 Months

Position Overview:
As an agronomy technician, you will work with the Research Agronomist to manage and maintain canola research plots in Montana. The private research trials that you manage will be used in the evaluation of specialty canola oil varieties with commercial potential. We are looking for highly ambitious, innovative, have desire for continuous learning and are able to quickly adapt to a rapidly evolving and highly motivated research team environment.

Job tasks:
You will assist in successful research trial management, which includes seeding, cultivating, spraying, harvesting, and data collection. You will operate and perform some maintenance on small plot equipment including seeders, sprayers, swathers, and combines. You will work with an interdisciplinary team including other research and support teams to organize resources effectively and to meet all business objectives.
Due to the nature of work in agriculture, work hours will be variable and may include overtime and weekends. Typical work schedule will result in 35-45 hours per week.

Other Required Experience/Qualifications:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivated and attentive to detail
Strong problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills
Flexible hours occasionally to support specific events

Additional Preferered Experience/Qualifications:
Familiarity with agriculture and rural communities
Clean driving record to occasionally drive company vehicles. Experience with farm equipment a plus.

Required:
* High school diploma
* Experience in Agriculture
* Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate machinery
* Demonstrated leadership skills
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivated and attentive to detail
* Strong problem solving, analytical, decision making, and organizational skills
* Willing to travel if needed
* A valid US drivers license and clean driving record

Preferred:
* Bachelors degree or associates degree in an agricultural discipline
* CDL endorsement

Work Environment: Professional/ Agricultural field setting
