Job Description

Responsible for establishing and managing local, regional, state, and national media contacts inside and outside the utility category for business and consumer print and broadcast outlets. Enhance the overall positive consumer and business awareness, understanding, and approval of JEA's brand essence. Increase the total volume of JEA mentions and total positive editorial content. Integrate editorial message content in theme, tone, and timing with paid media programs. Develop long-term, proactive, sustainable topical campaigns in support of new strategies, alliances, community causes, etc. Integrate non-paid editorial coverage with paid media campaigns. Serves as chief liaison for JEA for all media interactions. Refer to PMP technical factors for additional position accountabilities.
  • Responsible for leading, coaching and managing assigned personnel to achieve desired productivity and service levels within established guidelines and operating procedures.
  • Develops, maintains effective and efficient workflow and ongoing operations including process modifications as needed; communicates changes to other process owners and/or those impacted.
  • Identifies trends and sees that implementation of corrective action is complete, as necessary; informs others.
  • Provides and maintains service level agreements to meet or exceed customer needs.
  • Provides leadership in meeting JEAs safety goals.
  • Drawing on knowledge of process formulates or assists in formulating policies which are applicable to bargaining unit employees.
  • Contributes to preparation and administration of budgets for individual contributor component of the process.
  • May serve as JEAs representative at Civil Service Board hearings and may act as a consultant in support of process owner and /or representative of JEA management.
  • May assist in preparation for conducting collective bargaining unit negotiations, including participation by providing background, pertinent information or perspective on JEAs interests. May also participate in negotiations.
  • Coordinates with other business units and process owners to ensure quality and accuracy of customer encounters.


Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:
A Bachelors Degree in Communications, Marketing or related field required. A Masters degree a plus.
Ten (10) or more years of successful experience with brand development, media relations, and community relationship development.

An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

License/certifications/registrations:
A valid drivers license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this classification.

This position requires that employees be in compliance with JEA procedure ES A0200 A0101 RS 628 Screening Personnel Risk Assessments (pre-hire for FACTA designations; pre-hire and recurring for CIP designations).
