Job Description

The Vice President, Government Programs directs the health plans investments in Medicare sales effectiveness and is responsible for the management functions essential to sales productivity. These include planning, reporting, quota setting and management, sales process optimization, sales training, sales program implementation, sales compensation design and administration, recruiting and selection of sales department talent. The VP is responsible for the overall productivity and effectiveness of the sales organization. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the VP fosters close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the sales organization's efficient operation and success. The VP may manage one or more Directors.

Leadership:

  • Managerial and supervisory skills necessary in order to organize, coordinate and supervise appropriate staff.
  • Proven leadership skills as an executive leading a company or major division of an organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor other executives and leaders within the organization

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, presentation) to establish and maintain positive customer relations and to actively participate in thought leadership initiatives. Honed interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of staff, outside health care organizations, senior-level management, and community agencies.
  • The ability to work independently, to assess situations and respond appropriately, and the ability to initiate and implement policy and procedures. Must be willing to lead organizational change.
  • Persuasive, independent, confident, results oriented, high energy and perseverance.
  • Ability to motivate others and directs activities to meet overall sales objectives. Strong coaching and mentoring skills.

Knowledge:

Demonstrates a clear and thorough understanding of working different types of healthcare accounts while understanding marketplace developments, the competitive landscape, healthcare policy and managed markets to strategically connect to key providers and decision makers that drive sales results.

Experience:

Minimum ten years of Medicare sales and sales management experience in a business-to-business sales environment.

Education, Certification, and Licenses:

Requires a college degree in business administration or related field. An advanced degree preferred.
