Job Summary

Serves as health, safety, PSM, and DOT technical professional interpreting state and federal regulations and providing compliance direction. Supports day-to-day safety activities and collaborates with site leaders to build safety culture by recommending changes to work conditions and procedures to improve the work environment and comply with all health, safety, PSM, and DOT regulations.

What you will be responsible for

  • Maintains knowledge of health, safety, PSM, and DOT regulations and develops the skills necessary to interpret state and federal standards in order to provide compliance direction
  • Inspects work environment for unsafe work procedures and hazards to ensure compliance with all associated regulations
  • Implements regulatory requirements as well as company health and safety policies and procedures
  • Delivers safety perspective to PHA%26rsquo;s, coordinates MOC%26rsquo;s, participates in PSSR%26rsquo;s, manages contractor qualification and directs safe work practices
  • Supports operations during meetings, presenting data and statistics to advance goals and objectives
  • Facilitates incident investigations ensuring root causes are identified
  • Tracks adequacy and closure of corrective action items related to incident investigations, audits, agency inspections, etc.
  • Contributes technical support during health and safety/PSM/DOT audits and serves as an audit team member on division and corporate audits
  • Coordinates industrial hygiene efforts for asset including exposure monitoring and assessments
  • Supports site physical security program
  • Develops, coordinates, and conducts required health and safety, PSM, and DOT training
  • Authors various reports and presentations for dissemination to asset, division and corporate audiences
  • Interacts with local communities to ensure positive and pro-active relations are maintained
  • Performs other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization


Job Requirements:
Qualifications
  • Bachelor%26rsquo;s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or a similar degree field and/or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years related experience is required although employees typically have 7-10 years; oil and gas industry experience preferred
  • Prior experience with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Department of Transportation Pipeline Safety, Federal Railroad Administration, and Homeland Security regulations preferred
  • Certification such as ASP, CSP, PE, etc. preferred
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to influence at a local level and across a broad organization
  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
Special Demands
  • This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc. Noise level is typically low. Frequently in a stationary, sitting position for prolonged periods of time. Regularly moves about inside the office to complete tasks, attend meetings or to access the copy machine or file cabinets. Periodically pulls/pushes doors open to move around the office. Occasionally may lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
  • This job operates in both inside gas plant conditions as well as in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times. Regularly stoops, squats, kneels and crouches for durations up to 3 minutes. Periodically pulls/pushes doors open to move around the gas plant. Occasionally exerts pulling force of 130 pounds. Frequently may lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Occasionally may climb A-frame ladders.
