Engineering Customer Lead



Role Summary

The Customer Lead (CL) is to manage the relationship between Magna and the customer across the scope of a program. The CL is responsible to direct the engineering and production team in a manner, which will ensure the correct resources are applied to correct items at the correct time. The CL ensures that the program meets all targets and deliverables as agreed with the program sponsor and escalates areas of nonconformance and potential risk. The CL coordinates all aspects of the program including but not limited to team management, customer interface, manufacturing engineering, process feasibility, process development and program APQP. The CL will ensure adequate resources are available during all stages of the program. He will provide leadership, coaching, development and feedback as required to the team to create an environment in which the Program Team is able to maintain its focus as directed by program steering committee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead voice to customer on change requests for products & processes
  • Program manager for all changes and new products launches for given customer
  • Develop the relationship between the customer's representative and Magna
  • Understands fully customer's pulse (PPM, incident rate, escalation issues).
  • Host weekly meetings with customers and report appropriate statuses and KPIs
  • Manage change request from the customer; Involve all parties at Magna as required
  • Communicate any change that Magna implements on the equipment to the customer in accordance with the customer's process.
  • Coordinate program documentation and ensures clear communication of documentation standards, organization and use
  • Ensure that Drive Automotive maintains a proactive management style, an open-door policy for a positive employee relations climate.
  • Ensure a Management System (IATF-16949) that encompasses all aspects of Drive Automotive's business is maintained in the program structure
  • Ensure compliance with rules and regulations as required in the program
  • Manage tooling and equipment suppliers where applicable
  • Work closely with Purchasing and Finance to guarantee a systematic capital purchasing in the most efficient and effective way for Drive Automotive and Cosma
Additional Information
  • Perform Layered Process Audits in production as required.
  • Maintains 5S standards in workspace / department and holds team accountable for meeting 5S standards.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Five plus years' experience in Class-A Metal Stamping Industry
  • 4-year bachelor's degree or equivalency in an Engineering discipline
  • Familiar with Magna / Cosma HR Systems;
  • Research methods, techniques, and/or sources of information;
  • Excellent knowledge of principles, theories and practices of Project Management;
  • Excellent product knowledge in Class-A and Class-C for the automotive industry
  • Familiar with all quality related methods and tools such as but not limited to APQP, FMEA, etc.
  • Excellent customer relationships
