Position Overview

The Sr. Armorer provides guidance and direction to the Armorers and manages the Company's weapons program and is directly responsible for all armory operations. The Sr. Armorer also supervises and directs the Armorers and works cohesively with to ensure armory operations are conducted in compliance with all federal, state, and local weapons requirements and is responsible for ensuring the operational integrity of the Centerra-Los Alamos weapons program. The Sr. Armorer also maintains tests and evaluates protective force weapons as required and ensures that work is executed in accordance with Integrated Safety Management (ISM) and Integrated Safeguards and Security management (ISSM) functions and principles.



Qualifications

  • Five (5) years specialized experience in a Department of Energy (DOE) security operation supporting the functional duties of armory management operations.
  • Two (2) years of Protective Force security experience with DOE armed security operations
  • Two (2) years of experience in a Logistical positions supporting a military/law enforcement or security operation to include supporting evidence of weapon maintenance, repair and recordkeeping.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Currently have a DOE Q level security clearance or have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance
  • Ability to participate in the Human Reliability Program (HRP)
  • Current in, and able to maintain, a National Rifle Association (NRA) Armorer course or DOE NTC Armorer courses of instruction
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks while maintaining strict attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe PDF software effectively.
  • Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to function as an effective team member while interfacing with company employees, management, and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) oversight
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid NM driver's license

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Traveling to various work sites may be required to perform job functions. Regular office hours are required of this position with evening and weekend work as necessary. Physical work demands are considered medium with lifting requirements at times up to 40 pounds. Regularly sets up, adjusts, assembles, controls, tests, and operates weapons and munitions. Typically bends, stoops, and crouches on a regular basis to perform weapons maintenance. Work environment may be stressful with multiple assignments and deadlines to be met. Must be willing to travel for training and dedicated to obtaining and maintaining industry standard certifications and skills.
