Corporate Paralegal
Job Summary: This position manages subrogation activities for the clients and maintains a comprehensive understanding of the federal and state laws affecting the subrogation activities and group health plans of our clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Subrogation
- Investigates and identifies all sources of recovery for our clients/ group health plans.
- Manages all aspects of subrogation activities, including but not limited to submission of initial lien, periodic updates and settlement.
- Coordinates third party recovery activities with our Claims Department.
- Acts as a resource to our clients, brokers and other departments.
- Develops training for our claims Department, as necessary.
- Legal Research
- Conducts internal and external legal research.
- Maintains a working knowledge on regulations, legislation, and state laws requirements.
- Communicates with clients about regulatory changes by memo, telephone, and seminars.
- Drafts language for plan documents
- Contracts
- Reviews for accuracy and maintains current versions
- Litigation Management
- Maintains and reviews legal documentation for lawsuits.
- Communicates with attorneys and insurance departments.
- Reviews recorded phone calls, documentation, and correspondence.
- Provides guidance for complaints and track responses.
- HIPAA Privacy Officer
- Develops training and provides subsequent training for employees and clients
- Acts as an up-to-date and current resource for clients through research and responses to questions.
- Customer Service
- Acts as a role model in demonstrating the core values in customer service delivery.
- Provides timely and thorough follow up with, internal and external customers.
- Appropriately escalates difficult issues up the chain of command.
- Quality Assurance
- Serves on committees, work groups, and/or process improvement teams, as assigned, to assist in improving quality/customer satisfaction.
- Recognizes and alerts appropriate supervisor of trends within their scope of responsibility that fall outside of quality parameters.
- Performs self quality monitoring in order to develop and execute plans to meet established goals.
- Provides ongoing feedback to help optimize quality performance.
- Collaborates with others and cross-departmentally to improve or streamline procedures.
- Develops new or improves current internal processes to improve quality

Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's or paralegal degree preferred
or
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of three years of law office, personal injury or litigation experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of current regulations and laws
- Working knowledge of computers and software including but not limited to Microsoft Office products
- Proficient typing and 10-key skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills, problem-solving, analytical skills and detail oriented
- Demonstrated written, oral and telephonic communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize workloads multi-task and manage priorities in order to meet deadlines
PAY RATE: $30-$40/hour
START DATE: ASAP
DURATION: through end of 2020
LOCATION: Remote, *8a-5p Mountain time (some flexibility)
HOURS: 40+, as much as you are able to offer in overtime
REASON FOR NEED:
Need to close high volume of case by year end. It will be a very busy 3 months
DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITIES:
Helping with third party recovery work
PREFERRED
Experience with Healthcare and/or Third Party Administrator clients
