Job Description
Mackson, an A-TEK Company, is seeking to staff a team of software professionals to build and deploy new systems with web capabilities for our key government customers. We have an immediate opportunity for a Business Analyst II in our Rockville, MD office. The Business Analyst II will also spend time on the customer site in Rockville, MD in support of federal clients.
This position involves working as an integral part of a team of analysts and developers on multiple projects to build out web-based applications. The ideal candidate will have experience in web-based applications with a track record of establishing good customer relationships.
Position Responsibilities:
• Identify client business and system requirements and translate or decompose those needs into actionable software requirements, test criteria, and scenarios
• Analyze business and user needs, document requirements, and translate them into proper system requirement specifications
• Establish positive relationships with all stakeholders
• Assist with developing the business case and vision
• Document the as-is state and to-be state of systems
• Elicit, analyze and validate business requirements
• Clearly describe requirements following Agile User Story conventions
• Develop, manage and maintain all work products and deliverables from creation to finalization
• Create and maintain a hierarchical, feature-driven view of requirements
• Create technical specifications and test plans
• Examine and evaluate current systems to determine and assess capabilities and business rules
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Facilitate system design sessions with business users and client managers
• Liaise with users to track additional requirements and features
• Train users on new systems, applications and provide support
Required Qualifications:
• Requires a BA or BS degree from an accredited institution in a management or technical discipline - Computer Science, Information Technology or Business Management (related degrees and equivalent experience will be considered) and 6-8 years of performing business analysis, including business process and requirements elicitation and producing documentation and wireframes
• Positive customer and user orientation and demonstrated experience working with customers face-to-face to elicit and translate customer business needs and requirements
• Proactive customer management skills
• Excellent written and oral communication including technical writing and effective listening skills and customer relationship management; must be able to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing
• Strong knowledge of IT systems and IT organizations
• Ability to learn the functionality of software applications and the elements of business or user processes and write detailed non-coding requirements
• Ability to become a product expert and communicate coherently to our customers
• Ability to learn and document complex business rules and processes
• User stories and other SDLC documentation
• Agile/SCRUM experience
• Ability to work in a highly team-oriented, cross-functional and collaborative environment
• Highly organized and efficient; strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proactive self-starter who manages competing priorities, multi-tasks, and meets all deadlines and commitments while remaining flexible and adapts to continually changing priorities
• Solid computer skills with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio)
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Federal contracting experience supporting HHS or FDA
• JIRA and other Agile Backlog tools like Visual Studio Online
• Experience with the SDLC / EPLC
• Experience with data analytics and process analysis paradigms for addressing client needs
• Keen sense of the User Experience and User Journey
• Technical competency in JIRA, HP ALM, Office 365 and Balsamiq - provided by Dice
