We are looking for a Mechanical Assembly Technician with machine building experience, preferably in a low volume, high-tech, semi-custom product environment.

What You Will Be Doing

The primary role of this position is to perform advanced mechanical and electrical assembly of various precision assemblies, mechanisms and positioning systems. The Mechanical Technician position involves the assembly and installation of a low volume, high technology, high variation product mix, produced in a project driven build-to-order production working environment.
- Fasten components or parts together, using hand tools, rivet guns, torque wrenches, and welding equipment.

- Positions and aligns components for assembly, manually or utilizing various material handling tools and equipment.

- Analyze assembly blueprints, schematics and specification manuals, and assists with assembly, wiring and/or machine building operations.

- Rework, repair, and replace damaged parts or assemblies.

- Fasten and install piping, fixtures, or wiring and electrical components to specifications.

- Inspect and test parts and accessories for leakage, defects, or functionality, using electronic, optical and mechanical test equipment.

- Set and verifies clearance of parts.

- Set-up and installation of large bearings and slewing rings

- Verify conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, micrometers, indicators, spinning lasers and laser trackers.

- Lay-out, drill, ream, tap and cut parts for assembly.

- Remove rough spots and finish surfaces to fit

- Clean parts or components using hand tools and power tools.

- Perform Preventative Maintenance per instructions and update checklists.

- Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.

- Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.

- Fabrication of panels and structures, requiring material cutting, clamping, gluing, lifting and painting.

- Work with little or no direct supervision in field installation scenarios.

- Creative approach to problem solving and ability to exercise good judgement.

What You Need for this Position

Qualifications:
- High School/GED and relevant certs (Forklift/Aerial Device/Elevated Platform/Rigging

- Experience with machine building and assembly, preferably low volume, high-tech, semi-custom products

- Advanced mechanical troubleshooting/basic electrical troubleshooting

- Z-mapping, correction, planar, cylindrical and spherical alignment

- Advanced knowledge of assembly tools and mechanical assembly techniques

- Advanced blueprint and schematic reading

- Laser alignment methods - spinning/tracker

- Ability to obtain or have US Government security clearance

Desired/Nice to have:

- Set-up, operation and MDI of CNC machinery

- Cut/weld metal to repair broken parts, fabricate new parts, assemble new equipment. MIG/TIG

- Set-up and operation of metalworking equipment such as milling, drilling, turning and grinding machinery to shape or fabricate parts

- Manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, electrical engineering background desirable
