Director of Surgical Services (Full-Time) Today's Smarter Choice for Care Middlesex Health is seeking a Director of Surgical Services for our 275-bed not-for-profit Magnet hospital. The Director of Surgical Services will have direct oversight of the entire surgical services line, including the Operating Room, Endoscopy, Perioperative and Postoperative Care, Ambulatory Surgery, Interventional Radiology, Diagnostic Cath Lab, and Sterile Processing. The Director of Surgical Services also has oversight of our 15-bed Inpatient Orthopedic and Spine unit. The Director serves as a liaison between the medical staff, patients, senior leadership, nursing staff, and other disciplines, collaborating on issues related to patient care. Summary: The Director of Surgical Services has a strategic focus on providing outstanding patient service, growing the service line, developing and driving leadership, and managing resources. Incumbent is responsible for maintaining strong physician and administration relationships while ensuring standards of care for surgical services are in accordance with best practice. Develops, implements, and evaluates ongoing surgical services programs which ensure coordination of patient care and care delivery processes. Sustains a culture of safety, quality, service excellence, professionalism, personnel development, and team collaboration that supports the Middlesex Health Mission and the Department of Nursing vision, philosophy, and strategic plan. Minimum Qualifications: A registered nurse who is a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and is currently licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut BSN and a Master's degree in a related healthcare field are required Minimum of 4 years of experience in Surgical Services, preferably OR nursing Minimum of 5 years of experience in a progressive leadership role Demonstrates strong communication, collaboration, coaching, and negotiation skills Proven success in leading culture transformation. Proven experience with success in team building, physician relations, strategic planning, and financial management. Commitment to principles of transformational leadership and the ANCC Magnet model for nursing services. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) Nursing Leadership Certification (NE-BC or equivalent) acquired within 2 years of employment
