This hands-on individual contributor partners with Engineering, Production, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, Test, and external manufacturing partners to transition new and derivative designs into repeatable production; improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and labor performance; and maintain accurate routings, work instructions, tooling, process controls, and production data. The role applies Lean and data-driven problem-solving in OSS's high-mix, low-volume electronics and electromechanical manufacturing environment. Reporting Relationships: The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer reports to the VP of Operations. Duties and Responsibilities: • Develop, document, implement, and improve manufacturing processes across receiving, kitting, assembly, integration, production test, final inspection, and shipping. • Lead the manufacturing workstream for new product introduction and production readiness reviews, including design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly feedback, pilot and first-build support, manufacturing risk identification, and closure of readiness actions. • Create and maintain controlled manufacturing documentation, including visual work instructions, assembly procedures, routings, standard operations, manufacturing notes, labor standards, and process verification records. • Design, develop, validate, and improve production fixtures, jigs, templates, tooling, ergonomic workstation layouts, and material presentation methods to improve repeatability, safety, quality, and throughput. • Conduct time studies, cycle-time analysis, line balancing, and workflow analysis; establish and maintain realistic labor standards, routing times, resource assignments, and capacity assumptions in the ERP/MES environment. • Apply Lean and Six Sigma methods, including 5S, standardized work, value-stream mapping, Kaizen, waste elimination, root-cause analysis, and DMAIC, to improve flow, reduce variation, and sustain process gains. • Analyze in-process and final inspection yield, defects, rework, scrap, labor variance, RMA trends, and other operational data; lead or support cross-functional corrective actions and verify effectiveness. • Improve the quality and usability of manufacturing data in Infor CloudSuite Industrial/Factory Track or related ERP/MES systems. • Support demand and capacity planning by identifying process constraints, validating routing and resource data, modeling labor requirements, and recommending practical load-leveling, staffing, tooling, or outsourcing actions. • Evaluate manufacturing automation, capital equipment, and process-technology opportunities; prepare technical and cost justification, coordinate implementation, and validate performance before release to production. • Support contract manufacturers and special-process suppliers by defining manufacturing documentation, tooling, quality, traceability, and process requirements; participate in launch readiness and supplier process-improvement activities. • Train assemblers, technicians, inspectors, and other users on new or revised processes and verify that standardized work is understood, effective, and sustained. • Support AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 requirements through controlled documentation, objective evidence, process discipline, equipment maintenance and calibration coordination, traceability, audit support, and corrective action. • Identify and address manufacturing safety, ergonomic, and environmental risks associated with processes, tooling, workstations, and equipment. • Provide concise project updates, risk assessments, recommendations, and implementation status to Operations leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. • Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered. • Minimum 7 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience in a high-mix, low-volume electronics, electromechanical, aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated manufacturing environment. • Demonstrated hands-on experience with new product introduction, production-readiness activities, first builds, work-instruction development, manufacturing routings, time studies, labor standards, and tooling or fixture development. • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or comparable certification preferred. • Strong root-cause analysis, data analysis, and corrective-action skills, with the ability to convert operational data into practical process improvements. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, engineering change notices, specifications, acceptance requirements, and other technical documentation. • Experience with ERP and MES systems; experience with Infor CloudSuite Industrial/SyteLine and Factory Track preferred. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data-visualization tools; experience with Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, or related tools preferred. • Experience supporting AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems; knowledge of ISO 14001 and controlled manufacturing documentation preferred. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively on the manufacturing floor, and drive cross-functional actions to completion in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, project-management, and interpersonal skills.
