This means a rotating schedule of working remotely and from the office. JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a part time Certified Medical Assistant in our Nephrology Engagement Center clinic located in Durham, NC. The Certified Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System remote practice that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform telephone message taking with patients, document encounter, follow protocols and escalation plans established by clinic leadership Manage telephone calls and in basket messages within scope. Forms management Participates in performance improvement projects. Obtain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment as indicated. JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred. High school or GED graduation required. Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required. Please indicate on resume which certification you have, the certification number, and expiration date. BLS required Level I No experience required. Level II 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting. JOB HOURS: Hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. No weekends or Duke designated holidays.
