Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis. Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition. Perform advanced respiratory care modalities. Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome. Educate the patient and family about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs. Respond to emergency resuscitation team code. What You Will Need Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Alabama Board of Respiratory Therapy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred. Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Minimum Requirements: Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy. This position offers the opportunity to practice in a collaborative, academic Level IV NICU while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team of Neonatologists, Advance Practice Practitioners, pediatric subspecialists, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and allied health professionals dedicated to providing exceptional care for critically ill newborns and their families. Ochsner Baptist Medical Center is the only hospital in Louisiana to provide both Level IV neonatal intensive care and Level IV maternal care within the same facility, creating an exceptional environment for comprehensive fetal, maternal, and neonatal care. Opportunity Highlights Practice in a state-of-the-art, 67-bed Level IV NICU featuring private rooms for both singleton and multiple-gestation infants. Collaborate closely in a facilitative environment with an experienced and engaged team of Neonatologists and Advance Practice Practitioners in management of both high-acuity and moderate- acuity neonatal patients. Manage newborns requiring higher level of care in a dedicated Transitional Care Nursery Practice within a supportive small group of NICU Hospitalists that contributes to quality family- centered care for a population of infants that are transitioning to home.
