Job Summary Our Baker is a key player in making sure our Bakery products look and taste amazing. In addition to providing unparalleled guest service, you'll be responsible for using the best ingredients to craft the most delicious selection for our guests. As a member of the Bakery team, your primary responsibility will be preparing and baking the products to ensure only the freshest are available. Job Description Experience Required: Satisfactory completion of job specific skills assessment; 6 to 12 months experience or successful completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program Experience Desired: Prior experience working in Bakery or related industry Education Desired: No High School diploma required Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age Job Responsibilities Perform bench work according to established scratch procedures when necessary. Prepare product and form product to specifications as required according to scratch recipes. Bake prepared product using appropriate time and temperature as specified by recipe. Prepare Bakery products according to established recipes which include scratch recipes. Properly insert products into proof box, set controls, and close door to ensure proper size and shape of product. Prepare and fry donuts according to established procedures. Insert products into and retrieve products from the freezer to preserve freshness. Kindly answer questions and resolve problems to ensure guest requirements are met. Actively demonstrate appropriate suggestive selling techniques and provide active sampling when appropriate. Provide exemplary customer service by greeting customers and ensuring they are able to locate the products they are looking for. Bakery Team Members are also expected to have sufficient knowledge to answer questions and make suggestions to our customers. Maintain safety as the top priority in all aspects of our work, for our Team Members, guests, and products. Bake prepared and scratch product for the Bakery cases and displays, rotating product and ensuring code dating procedures are followed and only the freshest product is available for sale. Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tables, utensils, floor, etc. to ensure that safety and sanitation regulations are met. Accurately record special orders on Bakery products to ensure the customer is delighted with the finished product. Maintain proper safety and sanitation methods, emergency procedures, clean-ups, steritech, proper lifting and housekeeping to ensure department standards are met. Understand all the ingredients and purpose of each used in manufacturing scratch baked goods. Assist in maintaining Bakery backroom, cooler and freezer efficiency by unloading deliveries. Assemble necessary baking ingredients to prepare for baking operation including all scratch recipes. Assist in other areas as required. Job Description Job Description We are a new bakery in the South End looking for an assistant pastry chef to join our team. The main job function is laminating dough and shaping Viennoiserie products in the afternoon to be proofed overnight for an early morning bakeoff. After mastering the basics you'll have a lot of freedom in terms of what specials you'd like to make, and we'll support you with ingredients and special equipment. You must have experience laminating dough and working with a dough sheeter for this role. Most of the job functions will be performed after hours in the evening, from approximately 3-10pm. Responsibilities: Mix detrempe and laminate croissant dough according to various folding techniques Sheet and label finished dough Shape dough into the required shapes to meet par counts for the following morning. Identify potential issues with dough before proofing Make bicolor products and take advantage of unique ingredients Maintain an inventory of finished products and raw materials Qualifications: 2 years working in a pastry production kitchen Ability to work alone or mostly alone and stay on-task Work cleanly Ability to help out during the morning bake-off occasionally when other employees are sick or on vacation

Assist to unload products at each delivery location; obtain delivery confirmation and complete necessary paperwork. Perform routine vehicle inspection and operate vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, in compliance with DOT regulations. Perform pre and post trip inspection and complete daily drivers logs. Here's what you'll do: Responsible to safely drive commercial truck with trailer(s) on designated route to deliver products as per delivery schedule, in accordance with all current DOT rules and regulations; regularly make out-of-town deliveries. Maintain DOT drivers logbook or electronic logging device (onboard computer) and other delivery documentation. Assist to unload truck/trailers at each delivery location and verify correct products are delivered and obtain delivery confirmation and customer signature. Inform management of any deviations and/or invoice discrepancies; pickup of damaged goods and customer returns; ensure necessary paperwork is completed and relevant documents are attached. Report any unsafe unloading conditions at delivery location to dispatcher/supervisor. Perform pre-post trip inspection on vehicle before every run to ensure all mechanical, safety, and emergency components are in working condition and in accordance to DOT regulations. Responsible to perform pre-trip duties such as to review driver itinerary and check route details for assigned deliveries; check customer invoices, may move tractors to the loading dock to attach the preloaded trailers and if necessary, maintain required trailer temperature . Responsible to perform post-trip duties such as to unload damaged, customer returns products and ensure necessary paperwork is attached; unhook and secure the trailer; refill fuel; park and secure the tractor and hand truck; complete DOT logs and record all deliveries/pickup made, reconcile records with the appropriate company representative as required. Perform simple vehicle maintenance (i.e. clean interiors and exteriors, take vehicle for state inspection, filling tires with air, etc.). Report damage and/or repair requirements; coordinate with the dispatcher/supervisor to accomplish routine vehicle maintenance and repairs. Provide quality customer service at every delivery location; note and report issues and complaints received about schedules and quality of service to dispatcher/ supervisor for resolution. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed . Here's what you'll need: High school diploma or GED (preferred) Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (required) Six Months or at least 50,000 miles of all seasons commercial driving experience (required) Must pass DOT physical examination and DOT pre-employment drug test, subject to periodic random alcohol and drug test. Must be able to work up to 60 hours per week including nights and weekends . Good communication skills: ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Good organizational, prioritization and attention to detail skills. Good customer service skills. Ability to read maps, route schedules, and operate vehicles in a variety of traffic and weather conditions. Knowledge of federal regulations and DOT guidelines. Must be flexible working in shifts including evenings and weekends. Ability to work safely and carefully to prevent injury to self and others while driving, loading, and unloading vehicles . Ability to operate global positioning systems (GPS) /Electronic On-Board Recorders to communicate with dispatch. Basic computer skills preferred. Ability to travel with overnights on occasion.
