Under direction, perform skilled repairs and preventive maintenance work on a variety of small to heavy equipment and vehicles. Reports to the Fleet Services Supervisor. Exercises no supervision over other staff. The following functions & duties are typical for this position. Troubleshoot, diagnose, service, and repair mechanical and technical issues on gasoline and diesel equipment including small hand-held tools, automobiles, heavy duty/specialized trucks and a variety of heavy-duty construction equipment.Diagnose the extent of necessary repairs using knowledge, computer equipment, diagnostic software, and literature for the most cost effective quality repair. Basic knowledge and aptitude to diagnose the cause of most malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications including engines, transmissions, clutches, driveline, differential, steering, suspensions, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust systems, HVAC systems, lift-gate hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Repairs and adjusts the engines and cutting mechanisms of a wide variety of heavy and light mowing equipment. 2. Does work overhauling and repairing automotive and other powered equipment including engines, brakes, transmissions, differentials, springs and mufflers. 3. Secures and replaces tools and parts; cleans working areas after repairs are completed; lubricates and services automotive equipment 4. Assists in electric gas welding. 5.
