Job Description RWJBarnabas Health (RWJBH) and Rutgers Health are seeking an experienced pediatric intensivist for the role of Director for the 10-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC) in Livingston, NJ. The partnership of RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers University has created the largest integrated healthcare system in New Jersey. The successful candidate will be expected to manage and develop the CBMC PICU clinical and academic programs and partner with the other critical care leaders to manage and integrate the service system-wide. They will work with the RWJBH System Medical Director of Pediatric Critical Care to accomplish these goals along with other Pediatric Service Line objectives. The right intensivist leader will join our 23 other intensivists who manage 54 PICU beds in a well-functioning group and will value camaraderie, adaptability and teamwork. We seek a candidate with experience in managing complex situations, interacting with hospital administration and mentoring of new faculty. Highlights are: CBMC is the home of the Childrens Kidney Center that cares for the large number of pediatric renal transplant recipients in the state. Our PICU is integral to the success of this program CBMC diagnoses approximately 70 new diabetics per year, many who present in DKA and are PICU managed CBMC is the home for New Jerseys Adult and Pediatric Burn ICU, staffed by burn experts CBMC is building a level 4 pediatric epilepsy center and has started performing SEG surgeries The CBMC PICU takes care of a large number of complex post-operative patients from multiple neurosurgeons, ENTs, urologists, and pediatric surgeons CBMC PICU has an active research program that participates in large multi-center collaboratives and includes dedicated research coordinator time CBMC has a 56 bed state of the art NICU, 31 bed Pediatric floor, 8 bad Pediatric Emergency Department and takes care of approximately 6,000 newborns per year. Subspecialties include allergy, cardiology, child development, pediatric emergency medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, genetics, hematology/oncology, immunology, infectious diseases, neonatology, nephrology, neurology, pulmonology and rheumatology. Surgical specialty areas include craniofacial surgery, general surgery, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopedic, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, renal transplant and urology. There is an active PICU collaborative that promotes clinical, academic, and outcome excellence at RWJBH. Most of our intensivists have clinical presence at multiple pediatric centers within RWJBH which incubates best practices among the group and allows for development and maintenance of complete skillsets. Pathologists work at Medical Center s clinical laboratory.
