JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead and facilitate pre-operative and post-operative bariatric nutrition group classes Develop and update patient education materials consistent with current clinical guidelines Conduct nutrition assessments and follow-up visits for bariatric surgery patients Ensure template utilization See patients both in person and vitually Responsible for chart reviews and patient surveys Inbasket management: replying to messages received from other staff and patients. Scheduling patients and rescheduling as needed Work with providers on orders for diet, supplement, enteral/parenteral nutrition and laboratory data per policy. Working with vendors and following DHIP policy in regards to samples of supplements Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, behavioral health specialists, and other team members to support patient outcomes. Monitor patient progress and adjust nutrition interventions accordingly Maintaining registered dietitian (RD) status including continuing professional education per the Professional Development Portfolio. Maintains North Carolina Board of Nutrition and Dietetics licensure. Precepting dietetic interns and provide on the job training for newly hired clinical staff. JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Baccalaureate degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, Human Nutrition, or comparable major. Successful completion of coordinated program or dietetic internship of not less than 900 hours under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian. Registered dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration; candidates eligible for registration may be hired with the expectation that registration will be achieved within 90 days of hire. Licensed dietitian/nutritionist (LDN) by the North Carolina Board of Dietetics and Nutrition; provision for license-eligible dietitians as above Experience in bariatric nutrition and/or weight management preferred Familiarity with medical weight loss interventions, including pharmacotherapy support preferred Level I One year in an acute care environment preferred; experience may be waived for specific positions.
