How You Will Make an Impact The Manufacturing Engineer (Welding) is responsible for developing, maintaining, and auditing weld procedures and processes used at Reading Truck Group. The Weld Engineer is responsible for advancing the welding process at Reading Truck Group by developing, specifying, evaluating, implementing and expanding the use of new welding technologies. JOB SUMMARY We are seeking a skilled Plasma Cutter Operator to join our shipyard team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cutting and shaping metal components using plasma cutting equipment, based on blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications. How You Will Make an Impact The Manufacturing Engineer (Welding) is responsible for developing, maintaining, and auditing weld procedures and processes used at Reading Truck Group. The Weld Engineer is responsible for advancing the welding process at Reading Truck Group by developing, specifying, evaluating, implementing and expanding the use of new welding technologies. The Nuts and Bolts Define, specify and maintain the welding and joining procedures and processes to optimize manufacturing process safety, quality and efficiency Advance the welding processes and Readings' manufacturing competitiveness through the implementation of robotics and automation for welding and joining initiatives at Reading Truck Group locations Project manage welding and joining projects Design and analyze labor and space requirements, product design, quality requirements, workflow, layout of equipment and workspace to maximize efficiency, consistency and effectiveness of welding operations and projects Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to design processes that produce product within product and process specifications Review and analyze product sketches, designs, models, and drawings to make recommendations to improve in weld-ability and manufacturability Promote company safety policies and develop technical solutions to improve operational safety Work with maintenance team, and outside contractors to implement new equipment and processes, improve performance, and minimize equipment downtime Actively support in the daily activities of production teams Provide design support for welding and joining projects Support and participate in lean initiatives, and develop the welding and joining processes to provide customers with products that meet or exceed customer requirements and drive continuous safety, quality and productivity improvements Assist in response to infant warranty claims and quality issues with root cause analysis and corrective actions Monitor and optimize the use of consumables in the welding, joining and grinding operations Champion a welding steering committee; Oversee and present periodic audits for welding process equipment Oversee the certification of welders to American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 throughout the organization Keep the leadership regular updated of the key metrics and progress of each project Responsible for estimating and executing projects within budget and on-time Perform other duties as required or directed by the management Skills and Abilities: Excellent working knowledge of assembly and welding procedures and processes Skilled is SolidWorks or 3D modeling software is preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office programs is required Excellent organizational skills Proficient Project Management skills Ability to engage peers, direct reports, and other associates to solve problems and develop improved methods, resolve issues or constraints Effective oral and written communication; excellent interpersonal skills Ability to collaborate with multiple departments Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team Ability to oversee, guide, and train engineering technicians, maintenance personnel, and operations personnel in the areas of welding and welding technologies Position Qualifications & Requirements: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Welding, Materials Science, Metallurgical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Experience : Two (2)+ years of welding experience Five years of experience in truck body or other similar sheet metal welding industry preferred Experience with welding robotics is required Experience with Lean Manufacturing is preferred Experienced in supporting and/or implementing welding automation Familiar with DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA and their applications Certification/License: AWS CWI required, or similar How We Make an Impact At Reading Truck, we have more than 65 years of industry leadership in the manufacture, distribution, and enhancement of work truck bodies.
