Job Details Position Type: Locum Tenens Physician (Pathology) - hospital pathology jobs, locum tenens pathology jobs Location: Syracuse, NY 13203 - Central New York (Syracuse, NY pathology jobs, New York locum tenens) Practice Setting: Hospital-Based Pathology Laboratory (Trauma Level III) Assignment Length: 13 weeks (with potential for extension) Start Date: March 30, 2026 Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (No call) - ideal for pathologists seeking work-life balance Shift Duration: 8 Hour Days Hours Per Week: 40 Estimated Weekly Pay: $6,880-$8,150 Annual Volume: 13,000 surgical specimens and 3,000 cytology specimens - strong surgical pathology and cytopathology volume Team: 4 pathologists, 5 histotechnologists, 1 pathology assistant, 2 cytotechnologists EMR / LIS: Epic / Beaker Lab Certifications: CLIA, NYS Job Requirements AP Board Certification (required) - experience in anatomic pathology preferred (AP/CP candidates considered) Active New York State medical license (required) - targeted for New York pathology positions Self-query NPDB report required at time of presentation (must be current month) GYN cytology proficiency exam required for cytology interpretation Experience grossing specimens and performing frozen sections on a cryostat (Avantik QS12UV, Avantik QS II) Familiarity with ThinPrep methodology and integrated cytology imaging for GYN cytology At least 1 year of clinical experience in anatomic pathology and cytology (preferred) - surgical pathology and cytopathology experience a plus 25k Conversion Fee submission requirement (required) Responsibilities Provide general anatomic pathology coverage, including surgical pathology case review and sign-out - consistent with hospital pathology job duties Gross specimens and perform frozen section analysis using cryostat equipment Interpret cytology specimens, including GYN cytology utilizing ThinPrep and integrated imagers Document findings and finalize pathology reports in Epic/Beaker in compliance with CLIA and NYS standards Collaborate with on-site laboratory staff to ensure timely, accurate, high-quality diagnostic services Participate in a supportive team environment with other pathologists, histotechnologists, cytotechnologists, and pathology assistants Why This Locum Tenens Pathology Role?
