AWS Data Centers have multiple components such as generators, uninterruptable power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers air-cooled and water-cooled , pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, air economizers, etc. All these components have local control systems that interact with each other via open and/or proprietary communications protocols. The BMS is the primary method of control of all mechanical systems within a data center. The EPMS is the primary method of monitoring all electrical systems within a data center. This position requires that the candidate selected be a US citizen and currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph and satisfy other security related requirements. Key job responsibilities - Troubleshoot and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or Corrective Action (CA) for Control Systems for AWS Data Centers. - Possess, understand and apply controls fundamental concepts, practices and procedures to manage scope of Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) in operational AWS Data Centers. - Train and assist internal customers and stakeholders with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of BMS and EPMS systems. - Provide technical assistance and support to operations during life cycle of the data center. - Review results and action items from the quarterly maintenances for BMS and EPMS and take actions to get them resolved. - Develop BMS & EPMS projects scope of work, schedule, budget, and level of efforts (LOE) to projects requested by customers and stakeholders. - Manage scope, schedule, finance and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects in AWS data centers. - Assist in procurement related activities including request for quotation/proposals, responding to request for information, review of vendors proposal and issuance of purchase orders. - Participate in AWS global on-call schedule to provide immediate BMS and EPMS technical support to in-service data centers. - Attend project related meetings, coordinate with project leaders and regularly report status to Controls and stakeholder's management. - Support Controls projects related commissioning activities in the data centers. - Review, implement, troubleshoot and iterate on the controls sequence of operation (SOO) and provide necessary feedback to the design team. - Develop and modify controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces. - Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables, requirements and navigate challenging situations. - Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts. - Frequently visit (locally) assigned in-operation data centers to troubleshoot, meet customers, supervise vendor's work to ensure compliance with the scope, design, SOO and applicable local codes. Represents project team/WSP at client and project meetings, participates in business development and preparation of project technical and cost proposals, oversees work and supports the development of more junior structural engineers. Your Impact Perform professional structural engineering work and conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions and structures, and other infrastructure to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits. Develop construction plans, specifications, and support development of cost estimates; support preparation of construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients. Determine well-defined methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, hydrologic analysis, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction. Develop or incorporate advanced modeling techniques, concept development, design requirements, and operating strategies to account for the safety and functionality of end-users, and incorporate future-ready solutions with structural engineering design standards. Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects, selecting appropriate materials to ensure durability, and ensuring project work conforms with specifications, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos. Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, sketches, calculations, and 2D/3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses. Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting. Assist with development and scoping of smaller and medium-sized projects. Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers and interns. Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or construction issues or opportunities. Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of data obtained during site investigations, offering input with developing action plans for moderate- to high-level risk mitigation activities. Prepare and implement Risk Management and Health and Safety Plans (HASPs). Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention. Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner. Remain current in latest structural engineering techniques and practices. Work collaboratively with other engineers, professionals, infrastructure authorities, and the Public on Federal, State, regional, local, and privately funded improvement and development projects. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Who You AreRequired Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience). 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in structural engineering. Registered Professional Engineer in New York State or able to obtain via reciprocity. Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues. Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation and new design projects. Working knowledge with process and concepts for sustainability, and reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances/greenhouse gas. Working knowledge of relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations. Project management experience with small to mid-level projects including tracking hours and expenses for project work.
