We are seeking a dedicated Pain Management Nurse Practitioner (APN) to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients experiencing acute and chronic pain conditions. You ll work closely with a supervising physician and a supportive healthcare team to deliver individualized, multimodal pain management solutions in a structured outpatient setting.
Position OverviewThe APN will assess, diagnose, and manage pain conditions while ensuring compliance with New Jersey state regulations and clinical best practices. This role includes medication management, coordination of care, patient education, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Clinical CareConduct comprehensive patient evaluations (history, physical exam, pain assessment)
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic pain conditions
Develop individualized, multimodal treatment plans
Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, per NJ regulations
Monitor treatment outcomes, safety, and adherence
Educate patients and families on treatment options and risk management
Perform or assist with pain-related procedures within scope of practice
Utilize the NJ Prescription Monitoring Program
Ensure compliance with opioid prescribing laws and documentation standards
Monitor for misuse, dependency, or diversion
Maintain accurate, timely EMR documentation
Partner with supervising physician and interdisciplinary team
Coordinate referrals to PT, behavioral health, neurology, orthopedics, and more
Participate in case reviews and quality initiatives
Maintain licensure, certifications, and CE requirements
Adhere to ethical, state, and federal guidelines
Engage in team meetings and ongoing professional development
Active New Jersey Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) certification
Master s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program
National NP Certification (FNP or Adult-Gerontology preferred)
NJ prescriptive authority with active DEA registration
Eligible to practice under a collaborative agreement with a NJ-licensed physician
