Job Description

ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking an Orthopedic Surgeon to provide backfill coverage for surgical services and 24-hour hospital call. This role includes managing orthopedic trauma and elective cases across all age groups, with a strong emphasis on hip fracture care, including hip nailing. There is potential for ongoing coverage beyond the initial dates.

Dates / Schedule
  • Open Coverage: April 3 (7:00 AM) April 13 (7:00 AM), with additional dates and possible ongoing needs

  • Shift Schedule: 24-hour call (7:00 AM 7:00 AM)

  • Call Expectations: Emergency call with callback; 2 4 hours of gratis time preferred for the 24-hour rate

Job Details & Responsibilities
  • Provide orthopedic surgical coverage and hospital call

  • Manage orthopedic trauma, including hip fractures requiring hip nailing

  • Perform a full spectrum of orthopedic procedures for adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients

  • Surgical cases include:

    • Treatment of fractures, dislocations, amputations, deformities, and bone/joint tumors

    • Total joint replacement, revision, or repair (hip, knee, shoulder)

    • Spinal surgery (with and without instrumentation: cervical, thoracic, lumbar)

    • Arthroscopy

  • Participate in emergency department and inpatient consults

  • Document care using EPIC EMR

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon

  • Active Kentucky medical license (IMLC acceptable)

  • Active DEA registration

  • BLS certification

  • Proven ability to perform hip nailing procedures (required)

  • Experience with general surgical and non-surgical orthopedic procedures

  • Required procedural expertise:

    • Hip and knee replacement

    • Hip and knee repair or revision

    • Arthroscopy

  • Orthopedic fellowship training (preferred)

  • Clean background (required)

  • COVID vaccination (preferred)

  • NPDB Self-Query Report dated within 30 days of presentation (required)
