About the Role
The Chief Medical Officer serves as the senior clinical leader of the organization, responsible for the overall direction, quality, and performance of medical services. This executive role partners closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to drive clinical excellence, strengthen provider engagement, and ensure the delivery of coordinated, patient-centered care across multiple service lines.
The CMO balances strategic oversight with operational leadership, guiding clinical standards, performance improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership for all medical services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and growth initiatives
Oversee quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical performance metrics
Lead provider recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and retention efforts
Develop and implement clinical policies, protocols, and evidence-based standards of care
Partner with operations leadership to optimize access, productivity, and care delivery models
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and payer requirements
Mentor and develop medical leadership across departments
Support value-based care initiatives and population health strategies
Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related primary care specialty
Active (or ability to obtain) unrestricted medical license
Progressive leadership experience in a multi-provider clinical environment
Strong background in quality improvement and performance management
Experience working within integrated care models preferred
