Hospital-based cardiovascular surgery service

Some ICU and inpatient floor coverage
Coverage reason: Paternity leave
Average daily patient volume: Varies
Trauma Level II facility
Supervising physician on site
APP does not work autonomously
Patient population: Adult
Estimated credentialing timeframe: 1 month
EMR: Epic
Clinical Responsibilities
Operating room first assist
Chest tube insertions
Harvesting vascular tissue for bypass conduits
Postoperative patient management
Collaboration with cardiovascular surgeons and ICU teams
Qualifications
Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
Active New York State license
BLS and ACLS certification
Prior cardiovascular or cardiac surgery experience required
(OR first assist, vein harvest experience)
Robotic surgery experience preferred
Clean background with no malpractice history
NPDB self-query required at time of presentation
