Hematology/Oncology Physician Requirements
- Board Certification: Hematology/Oncology (required)
- Training: Fellowship trained in Hematology/Oncology (required)
- Licensure: Active Iowa medical license or active IMLC (required)
- Experience: Hem/Onc physician experience is highly preferred; new graduates may be considered
- Clinical Skills: Must be able to perform MUA (required)
- Professional Standing: Clean malpractice/background and recent NPDB self-query (required)
Key Responsibilities (Outpatient Hem/Onc)
- Provide Hematology/Oncology consults and follow-up care in an outpatient clinic setting
- Oversee administration of antineoplastic therapies in the clinic/infusion setting
- Deliver and coordinate services including bone marrow biopsies, iron therapy, IVIG, phlebotomies, and related infusion treatments
- Collaborate closely with nursing and ancillary teams to ensure efficient, patient-centered care
- Support hospitalist teams with infrequent inpatient consult questions (primarily by phone)
- Participate in teaching opportunities as available
