Our organization is seeking a seasoned Permanent Controller to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. The Permanent Controller will also have a key role in cost control and project management. The successful candidate will be a hands-on and participative manager and will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas: finance, business planning, and budgeting.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and project budgets and actual expenditures.
3. Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the organization's financial status.
4. Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
5. Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities, and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
6. Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
7. Oversee project financial management, including monitoring of project budgets, contracts, and change orders.
8. Develop and implement cost control measures and strategies to optimize resources and increase profitability.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. A CPA, CMA, or other financial certifications are preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior financial managerial position, preferably in the construction industry.
3. Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
4. Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
5. Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
6. Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, board of directors, and staff.
7. Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker.
8. Proficiency in accounting software, MS Excel, and other business-related software.
9. Strong knowledge of financial analysis, cost control, and project management.
10. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
11. Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data.
