ABOUT THE ROLE - Sanitation Shift Lead
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Sanitation Shift Lead to support our Penn Yan, NY facility. This role leads sanitation associates, supports production during line cleanups, ensures proper equipment cleaning, and maintains compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The Sanitation Shift Lead plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and food safe environment during overnight operations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO• Lead sanitation staff and coordinate sanitation activities during the shift
• Support production teams with scheduled line cleanups and equipment sanitation
• Enforce safety policies, GMPs, and federal/state regulations to ensure food safety and food defense
• Prepare for and support state, federal, and customer inspections
• Align with sanitation leadership on goals, KPIs, and team objectives
• Influence cross functional departments to support effective sanitation and food safety programs
• Validate sanitation effectiveness through visual inspection and swab performance (ATP, microbial, allergen)
• Verify accurate chemical concentrations and monitor facility chemical usage
• Ensure minimal downtime during sanitation and pre operational inspections
• Complete and review sanitation documentation accurately and on time
• Validate and maintain equipment cleaning SSOPs
• Oversee disassembly, cleaning, sanitizing, and reassembly of equipment and storage areas
• Communicate sanitation concerns or risks to the Supervisor and collaborate on solutions
• Demonstrate correct PPE usage for chemical handling
• Move chemicals throughout the facility as needed
• Perform sanitation related special assignments
• Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU'LL NEED• Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
• Ability to read P&IDs and blueprints preferred
• Strong computer skills
• 3 years of sanitation experience preferred but not required
• Strong prioritization and organizational skills
• Ability to manage time effectively for self and others
• Strong attention to detail
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to resolve concerns, support team building, and lead procedural adherence
• Ability to follow and enforce company safety and hazard procedures
• Ability to teach, coach, lead, and direct teams
• Mechanical and electronic aptitude
• Knowledge of HACCP principles
• Ability to operate or train on fork trucks and scissor lifts
THE SCHEDULE & SETTING• Full time role on Nights
• Must be flexible to work weekends and overtime as needed
• Work performed in production and sanitation environments with exposure to cleaning chemicals, equipment, and varying temperatures
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs
PAY & BENEFITSPay Range (Base Pay): $21 - $23 per hour
Other Compensation: May include overtime and shift premiums depending on schedule
