Anesthesiology PhysicianColumbia, SC(Locum Tenens)Position Overview:We have an immediate need for three (3) full time locum Anesthesiology Physicians to provide Anesthesiology services for our veteran population at the VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in veterans lives while experiencing the unique beauty of historic South Carolina.
Scope of Care: Physician(s) shall be responsible for providing Anesthesiology care, including, but not limited to:
- Clinic and Surgical Care: Physician(s) shall provide clinical Anesthesiology services. Physician(s) shall be present on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries as documented by physical presence in the clinic or operating room at the scheduled start time.
- Operative Services: Physician(s) shall provide comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services including patients undergoing cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, and major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic and ophthalmologic operations.
- Physician(s) shall provide clinical care of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal and radiological suites.
- Physician(s) shall provide primary coverage for all patients in the surgical intensive care, short stay unit, acute and chronic pain management services, diagnostic trans esophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients, and emergency airway management.
- Physician(s) shall provide consultative services at the patient s bedside if the patient is not ambulatory, and in the clinic setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic.
- Medications: Physician(s) shall follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
- Discharge education: Physician(s) shall provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Anesthesiology clinical or surgical patients.
Must have completed a residency in anesthesiology and be Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
Credentialling and onboarding takes approximately 4-6 weeks.
Hours & Schedule:- VA Business Hours: EST
- Clinic or OR Schedule: 7 days a week, 24 hr coverage
- Anesthesiologist providing 8 hours of shift coverage from 7:00 a.m. 3:30pm. After 3:30pm, 1 physician will begin call/after hours care, until 7am following day. This coverage is needed up to 52 weeks.

- One active, unrestricted Medical License in any state
- Current DEA
- BLS- American Heart Association (AHA) required
