As a Human Resources Business Partner, here's a big picture view of what you'll do:
- Oversee end-to-end new hire onboarding, including I-9 verification, background checks, drug screens, benefit enrollment support, and new employee file creation.
- Facilitate employee orientation sessions and partner with site leadership to deliver a smooth and compliant new hire journey.
- Serve as the site's HRIS/ADP subject matter expert, managing onboarding workflows, payroll administration, benefits, and performance management within the system.
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing by partnering with operations and NST Human Resources, reviewing payroll top sheets, and reconciling reports for 401(k) and benefits.
- Support benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and monthly carrier invoice reconciliation.
- Monitor compliance requirements such as licensure, certifications, recurring background screens, labor law postings, and employee file maintenance.
- Assist with talent acquisition activities as needed, including candidate screening, interview coordination, and communication with NST Talent.
- Support the performance management process by helping leaders set goals, track progress, and utilize HRIS tools effectively.
- Manage office operations and provide general HR support, including processing terminations, responding to VOE requests, administering recognition programs, and supporting audits.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices, regulatory requirements, employment laws, and trends to ensure compliant and effective HR operations.
A few must-haves for a Human Resources Business Partner:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, with strong foundational knowledge of HR principles, employment law, and organizational development-ideally applied within a fast-paced, highly regulated environment such as healthcare or hospice.
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive HR experience, preferably supporting healthcare, hospice, or multi-site clinical operations, with a demonstrated ability to independently manage the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations, performance management, and offboarding.
- Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems (ADP preferred), including hands-on experience with payroll reconciliation, auditing timecards, generating workforce reports, managing onboarding workflows, and ensuring accurate and timely benefits administration.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance, including California wage and hour regulations, required postings, recordkeeping standards, leaves of absence, I-9 and background check requirements, and foundational benefits compliance-ensuring the organization consistently maintains audit-ready practices.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities, maintain meticulous documentation, and consistently meet deadlines while supporting both routine HR processes and unexpected operational needs.
