Job Description:

Under the leadership of the department director and assistant director, t he certified histotechnician is able to perform all routine histologic techniques. Tasks include routine embedding and cutting of Surgical and BX tissues. The technician will have the ability to prepare and examine slides under the microscope to ensure QC requirements are met. The technician will perform tasks with the automated H&E (Sakura) and the automated IHC (Ventana) and automated special stains (Artisan). The Technician will operate computerized laboratory equipment to fix, dehydrate, and infiltrate with wax, tissue specimens to be preserved for study by pathologists. Prepares slides of specimens using specified stains to enhance visibility under microscope. The Technician performs other related duties as assigned. The certified histotechnician reports to the Assistant Laboratory Director.

Experience:

Experience in clinical lab or pathology lab preferred.

Education:
High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent work experience in related field preferred with required license.

Licensure/Certification:

Certified (ASCP or equivalent) Histologist.

Per Diem, varied days and shifts / primarilly 4:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Monday -Friday , no weekends

Pay Range (based on years of applicable experience):

$55.19

to

$73.83

The hours employees work determine when a shift differential is paid.

Hourly Evening Shift Differential: $3.18

Hourly Night Shift Differential: $4.76
