This role, under technical supervision, performs calibrations, maintaining calibration records, organizing tools and instruments, and ensuring compliance with quality system requirements and industry standards. The role requires you to perform basic tests, accurately document procedures, and learn higher-level skills under supervision to advance your career. Position Responsibilities: Perform routine calibrations of test and measurement equipment under supervision. Prepare instruments and test setups for calibration and verification activities. Maintain and update calibration logs, records, and certificates in accordance with laboratory quality procedures. Label equipment with calibration status and ensure traceability of all calibrated items. Use software to track equipment due for calibration and coordinate scheduling with laboratory teams. Support the maintenance, cleaning, and organization of calibration equipment and the metrology lab. Communicate with service providers to facilitate outside calibrations. Follow established procedures and safety guidelines while handling sensitive instruments and reference standards. Report out-of-tolerance conditions or equipment issues to the Equipment and Calibration Specialist. Participate in internal audits, quality system reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives as required. Learn to perform tasks at higher levels of responsibility under supervision. Must be able to judge workmanship and maintain consistent quality. Enter and review data into computer. Follow all ICC-ES laboratory safety protocols, PPE requirements, and quality procedures. Participate in training on ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and ICC-ES quality systems. Facilitate equipment tracking, labeling, and storage. Description: Job Summary: Set up and operate manual lathes, Bridgeport style milling machines with the ability to hold tight tolerances. Responsibilities and Skills Required: Have an understanding of GD&T (concentricity, runout, etc.) Measure and inspect machined surfaces, bores, bearing journals, for non-conformance using micrometers, height gauges, calipers, indicators and other metrology instruments. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and setup requirements. Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining. Setup, program and operate a Mazak M5 CNC Lathe (preferred but not required) Uses precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, vertical turning lathe, drill press, band saw, broaching machine, and others. Fabricate precision metal parts and templates Select, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, etc. Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications. Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly. Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly. Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated. This position serves as a subject matter expert on quality inspection processes, advanced measurement tools, and root cause analysis. The QA Tech III mentors junior inspectors, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and partners with engineering and production teams to maintain the highest standards of product quality and compliance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs advanced dimensional inspections of machined components using precision measuring equipment (CMM, optical comparators, height gauges, micrometers, calipers, etc.). Interprets complex engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and customer requirements. Conducts First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 or customer-specific requirements. Develops, reviews, and maintains inspection plans, control plans, and quality documentation. Supports PPAP submissions and customer qualification processes. Leads root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for nonconforming product. Assists in the calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment. Mentors and trains junior QA technicians and production personnel on quality processes and standards. Participates in internal and external audits (ISO 9001, AS9100, customer audits).
