DSP HOURLY RATE : $19.68/hour in compliance with Maryland's Equal Pay for Equal Work law. BELOW ARE THE AVAILABLE SHIFTS: You have the flexibility to choose the nights that work best for your schedule - You can choose to work 2,3,4, or 5 nights a week 3:00pm - 7:00PM or 8:00PM (3:00 start time is a non-negotiable, end time is flexible) As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in our Personal Supports Department , you will provide one-on-one support to an individual with an intellectual and/or developmental disability. You will assist with social, recreational, and educational activities in the Carroll County community, including transportation, or provide in-home assistance. You will also assist with personal care and mobility on an as-needed basis. In addition, you will: Support each individual in achieving goals outlined in their Person-Centered Plan. Use your creative thinking skills to research community activities and take your individual to area events/activities that are meaningful to them. Assist each person in accessing their community by providing transportation, coordination, and support for activities of their choice. Encourage decision-making skills and independence for each individual you support. Ensure that all recipients receive quality services. Prepare and provide proper accounting of time, funds and mileage as required by The Arc and the State of Maryland Provide documentation of time spent with individuals and their progress toward outcomes in the iCare system. National DSP certification program available with potential for annual bonuses Requirements: POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application. Must possess a high school diploma or GED. Must have a valid U.S. driver's license with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience not including time spent on a permit. Must have a clean drug screen, criminal record and a clean/safe driving record. (The Arc provides programs, services, and direct care to vulnerable adults). Basic computer and keyboarding skills. The ability to complete CPR, First Aid, Med Tech Certification and other trainings mandated by the Developmental Disabilities Administration and The Arc. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift/manipulate at least 50 pounds frequently with ability to lift, carry and/or exert force in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally. Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing required: Including lifting a wheelchair and repositioning an individual. Ability to transfer individual from a chair to vehicle, bed to chair. Ability to position individual on a sling or Hoyer lift.
