Ace Wire Spring & Form Co., Inc. is seeking a mechanically inclined, hands-on Machine Operator for our Coiling Department. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with machinery, solving mechanical problems, and performing full CNC setups-not simply monitoring equipment. Candidates must be eager to learn precision manufacturing skills and take ownership of producing high-quality custom springs. Overview As a Machine Operator - Coiling, you will set up, operate, adjust, and tear down CNC and mechanical spring coiling machines used to manufacture precision compression, torsion, and extension springs. This is a technical, fast-paced role where operators are responsible for the entire process: installing tools, adjusting parameters, inspecting parts, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the machine produces parts to exact specifications. Full training is provided, with opportunities for growth into advanced coiling, multi-axis forming, and machine setup technician roles. Duties & Responsibilities Perform full CNC machine setup and teardown on coiling machines Install tooling including arbors, guides, finger tools, quills, and cutters Set up and operate Herdon, Torin, Fortuna, and other CNC/mechanical coiling equipment Make parameter adjustments and basic program edits as needed Produce custom compression, torsion, and extension springs to blueprint specifications Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions Perform in-process inspections and complete SPC documentation Troubleshoot mechanical and quality-related issues to maintain production flow Perform first-piece inspections and collaborate with supervisors to verify accuracy Monitor machine performance and adjust feed rates, timing, pitch, and coil dimensions Maintain tooling, replace worn components, and communicate maintenance needs Ensure safe operation of machinery and comply with all ISO 9001:2015 procedures Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow department safety guidelines On-the-Job Training Will Include CNC coiling machine setup, teardown, and fine adjustment Producing tapered, conical, cylindrical, variable-pitch, and specialty coil shapes Working with round and square wire ranging from .003" to .625" Introduction to CNC programming and parameter modification Tool grinding, arbor fitting, and tooling maintenance fundamentals Blueprint reading, GD&T, and interpretation of spring specifications Spring terminology including index, pitch, free length, solid height, rate, and load tolerances Use of Larson Load Scales and other precision measuring equipment ISO 9001:2015 inspection requirements and documentation First-piece approval processes and quality control communication Experience & Qualifications Mechanically inclined with strong interest in hands-on machine operation Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and make corrective adjustments Comfortable using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and hand tools Computer literate with the ability to navigate CNC interfaces Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing precise parts Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative production team Prior experience as a machinist or CNC operator is helpful but not required Hiring Process All new hires are processed through a temp agency during their first 500 work hours. A drug test and background check are required as part of this process. This arrangement does not affect take-home pay-Ace Wire Spring & Form Co., Inc. covers all fees. After completing the 500-hour period, employees may be evaluated for full-time hire based on performance, attendance, quality, and fit within the Coiling Department.
