The Opportunity

Lesley University's Department of Natural Sciences and Math is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach: CMATH 1501 Problem Solving, Spring Semester 2026, Fully in-person, on-campus, Tuesdays/Fridays 2:30pm-3:45pm

Course Description:

This course focuses on the development of problem-solving skills, strategies, and heuristics. Within this context, students explore mathematical areas including number theory and functions, sets and logic, and combinatorics and probability. Individual and group problem-solving tasks allow students to observe, analyze, and compare different strategies and approaches. Each student will maintain a learning log to reflect on their problem-solving abilities, and written explanations for problem solutions are expected.

Qualities and Capabilities

A successful candidate will have:

  • Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, or computer science (required)

  • Successful experience teaching problem-solving math curriculums at the undergraduate level

  • Experience in constructive, inquiry-based learning

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
