Job Summary The Yard Operations 1 position entails picking orders, processing customer returns, counting materials, loading and unloading trucks, servicing our rental equipment, and other general yard and warehouse duties. Frequent forklift operation is involved. Servicing rental equipment, pressure washing returned equipment to prepare for operations which includes repairs, painting, and related duties to meet branding standards. Extensive training will be required and provided. This position is a safety sensitive role that requires compliance with the company's drug and alcohol policy and adherence to all safety regulations and procedures. Key Responsibilities Load and unload equipment and materials onto and off trucks, primarily by forklift and occasionally by hand.Communicate any identified safety or yard issues/requirements to the Yard leadAssemble trench boxes and other trench safety equipment.Signal equipment operators to facilitate the assembly of trench safety equipment.Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.Operate hand and power tools as required.Control traffic passing in and around the yard.Touchup and repaint products as required to meet NTS branding standardsAbility to direct and answer any customer related questions Maintain yard cleanliness.Other duties as required Knowledge and Skills Effective verbal communication and collaboration skills Mechanical aptitude is required. Wisconsin Building Supply operates locations throughout Wisconsin supplying windows, doors, roofing, siding, millwork, lock hardware, columns, trim, mouldings, cabinetry, countertops, decking, railing, gypsum, lumber & plywood, insulation, and other building materials. The CDL Driver I delivers materials to job site, inspects and maintains truck, reports shortages and claims to supervisor and assists in loading and storing of materials. Typically, driving a truck with a capacity of more than three tons, but may be a less experienced CDL or tractor trailer driver. What you will do • Operate safely. • Participate in a positive work environment. • Maintain a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as required. • Prepare DOT required log of time on duty and driving. • Organize and secure load. • Assist forklift operators when loading. • Check orders for accuracy. • Deliver and unload materials to customers' satisfaction. • Complete daily equipment pre-inspection. • Record all merchandise that is returned by truck, assist in unloading material returned for credit. • Follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation. • Provide excellent customer service. • Relay messages sent by customers while on job. • Assist supervisor, other employees and other work areas, as assigned. • Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in yard and warehouse. • Comply with all company policies and guidelines. • Operate truck mounted forklift safely and efficently. • Maintain cleanliness of truck. • Participate in and complete assigned trainings. Education Qualifications • High School Diploma or GED required. Experience Qualifications • CDL experience preferred • Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required. • 1-3 years CDL experience required for interstate commerce Skills and Abilities • Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions and complete forms. • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills. • Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems. • Maintain current operator's license and meet company driver qualification requirements. • Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques. • Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications). The Yard Team Lead will be responsible for the supervision of the outside customer loading process, as well as greeting and assisting customers throughout the yard. The Yard Team Lead will ensure the accuracy of merchandise receipts and loadings of customer merchandise in the assigned area following company policies and procedures. Job duties: Responsible for ensuring Fleet Farm's merchandise presentation standards are in place in the yard and surrounding work areas. Ensure displayed merchandise throughout store is seasonally relevant, properly secured, and well represented. Responsible for maintaining backroom locator accuracy within yard area. Ensure all merchandise is properly wrapped and stored in a way that will prevent it from being weather damaged. Effectively load correct merchandise into customers' vehicles while following all safety guidelines. Ensure that the Gate Guards are knowledgeable and executing the proper verification procedures for all outside customer loads. As requested, locate sale and promotional items to replenish stock during operating hours. Transport product throughout the facility while safely operating a forklift. Ensures cleanliness standards are in place in the yard and gate areas. Positive promotion of Fleet Farm customer loyalty program, credit card, and other company initiatives. Job Requirements and Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays is required. Ability to be certified to operate a forklift and other material handling devices. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
