Job Title: Electrical Engineering Manager Location: Wilmington, OH Type: Direct Hire Contractor Work Model: On-site Electrical Engineering Manager Wilmington, OH Description The Electrical Engineering Manager reports to senior Engineering leaders(s) and works closely with other functional leaders in the company, including those in product management, marketing, sales, finance, manufacturing, procurement, operations, regulatory, and quality. The Electrical Engineering Manager is responsible for supporting New Product Development and Sustaining Engineering projects and products including but not limited to: PCBA design and manufacture, layout, gerbers, schematics, firmware, and IoT initiatives. Work will include review, testing, prototype builds, applied concept development, test equipment development, validation and support, root cause for electrical issues for products, firmware debugging and validation, and electrical and systems level documentation. The Manager will work closely with functional leaders of Ferno Group Companies, Contract Engineering Firms, Contract Manufacturers, and the Field Service Resolution team to achieve objectives. The Electrical Engineering Manager is the go-to person responsible for global electrical support. Requirements ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on project management, for all product development, continuous improvement, testing, and technical writing functions. Develop specifications for PWM based brushed and brushless DC motor systems, ST and PIC series microcontrollers, LiFePO4 batteries, sensors, wireless communications, displays, harnesses, electromechanical and hydraulic assemblies, and associated equipment. Responsible for development of embedded software and firmware using Visual Studio code in C and C++. GUI experience. Sole responsibility for engineering documentation and drawings enabling release of electrical and electronic components and assemblies for production using Altium and Solidworks. Ultimate responsibility for material selection for mating components, such as connectors, sensors, cabling, EMC shielding, and enclosures. Familiarity with IEC, UL, UN, CSA, CE, and EN electrical and regulatory standards. Drive implementation of formal processes to support the product development, NPI, and Sustaining efforts to increase speed to market. Responsible for meeting process controls and requirements for all activities within prescribed area. Responsible for Engineering Change Orders and/or Phase-Gate processes using Solidworks PDM, InforXA, and other disparate systems. Ensure the optimal application of technology and engineering resources to meet or exceed customer and commercial requirements per product requirement specification(s). Author electrical specifications to feed into larger project scope documents. Establish and manage team objectives, initiatives and accomplishments. Responsible for primary hiring, on-time performance appraisals, coaching/counseling, employee development, employee engagement, and necessary communications regarding employee performance. Responsible for projects being completed on time and within budget for electromechanical aspects. Provide technical expertise to engineers in the area of design best practice, failure modes, failure analysis, and test requirements. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have launched multiple electrical engineering-based products from concept to commercial market; medical device products a plus Undergraduate degree in Engineering, MS preferred.
