Departmental Objective: The Student Accounts and Cash Services Office is responsible for student accounting, receivable, cashiering and collection activities for the University. The office manages billing, collections, deposits and revenue accounts. Activities are performed with guidelines established by state and federal regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.

Purpose of the Position: The Cash Services Supervisor is responsible for the comprehensive management of the cashiering function. The Supervisor is responsible for: receipting, proper account recognition and timely deposit of monies owed to the University; supervising the cashier staff; implementing policies and procedures; safeguarding the University's assets; and the associated computerized system. In executing these responsibilities, the manager is expected to demonstrate a progressive orientation to positive and constructive changes embracing technology and industry proven best business practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position: Knowledge of advanced bookkeeping/generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.

Knowledge in computerized accounts receivable systems.

Knowledge of computerized cash receipting system.
Demonstrated knowledge in cash receipting and balancing techniques in a complex environment.
Ability to work independently and make decisions that affect the general day to day operations of the Cashier Office.
Ability to accurately perform detailed work with numerical data.
Oral and written communication skills.
Supervisory skills.
Proficiency in the use of personal computers, word processing and spreadsheet software.
Proficiency in the use of office equipment (calculator, copier, fax, computers, etc.).

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required : Education:
  • High school graduate or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
Experience:
  • Experience working with cash transactions and cash handling procedures.
  • Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Experience using computerized cash receipting system.


Additional Consideration(s): Education:
  • Four-year college degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience in cash handling, business and/or accounting.
  • Advanced accounting coursework
Experience:
  • Experience in supervising a professional staff in a business office environment.
  • Experience in computerized accounts receivable systems.
  • Experience in higher education or state government.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner.

Salary Information: Starting at $58,972 Commensurate with Education and Experience
