Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:The Director of TRIO Programs (SSS & Talent Search) reports to the Executive Director for TRIO and is responsible for the overall development and administration of both grants. This full-time, grant-funded position is responsible for program operations and accountability, including providing leadership and direction for both programs; hiring, supervision, and training of full-time professional staff; budget planning and management; adhering to deadlines; working collaboratively with faculty and staff to identify and assist students in need of program services; and providing direct services to students as necessary.
Furthermore, the Director will review policy, conduct program evaluations, and ensure compliance with all federal guidelines and university regulations through detailed recordkeeping and completing the comprehensive annual performance reports on program goals and objectives. The Director will assist the Executive Director with the drafting, editing, and preparing TRIO grant proposals and renewals. The time and efforts of the Director position are split between the two TRIO grants.
This is a Grant Funded program.
Essential Duties Summary:- Providing financial accountability, offering timely updates, submitting annual progress reports, and responding to requests when appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director for TRIO and senior-level administrators to develop program priorities, prepare data for federal and campus reporting, and secure funding for TRIO programs.
- Ensure continuous learning for all SSS & Talent Search staff by coordinating professional development activities, participation in regional and national conferences, as well as engagement in academic research to remain current about the field.
- Oversee the integration of educational technology and tools (e.g., learning management systems) to support the learning and development of the next generation of TRIO-eligible students.
- Develop and lead effective program evaluations for Student Support Services and Talent Search to assess their effectiveness and identify areas for improvement and growth.
- Provide leadership and advocacy for offices and personnel involved in the recruitment and support of traditionally disadvantaged and/or underrepresented student groups.
- Support the recruitment efforts of eligible students by working collaboratively with Talent Search Target schools/administrators, TSU Enrollment Management, Financial Aid and Scholarships Office, Student Services, and Academic departments that work on retention program development.
- Represent TRIO SSS Programs and Talent Search at target schools and at TSU campus such as within the surrounding communities, ensuring the needs of key partners, supporters, and stakeholders are being met.
- Maintain contact with appropriate target school partners and serve on university committees that support the academic success of traditionally disadvantaged and/or underrepresented student groups.
- Travel during the week and weekends for professional development, conferences, and activities related to the program objectives (e.g., STEM, postsecondary visits, cultural events and graduate school visits).
- General support for First Generation student initiatives for the TSU campus, including participation in committees, First Gen Days, and presentations to First Gen students and their families.
- Provide leadership and support to other TRIO Programs as needed during key periods.

Hiring Range:$74,879.81 - $95,471.75
Education:A Master's or terminal degree in higher education administration, or related degree from an accredited institution.
Required Licensing/Certification:Valid Texas Driver's License preferred.

- Command policies pertaining to the retention and graduation of traditionally disadvantaged and/or underrepresented student groups, and graduate admissions enrollment.
- Understanding of the issues facing traditionally underrepresented students that are pursuing a college degree.
- Capacity to be engaged with relevant professional organizations and deliver conference presentations.
Work Experience:- Six (6) years of progressively responsible work experience, including exercising supervision, program management and/or development, experience in higher education, post-secondary support services, or similar grant-funded positions.
- Experience interpreting and complying with federal regulations.
- Five (5) years of experience designing, managing, and implementing a comprehensive plan of project services for SSS, Talent Search, or similar programs.
- Experience in grant writing, particularly DOE grants.
- Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment or water treatment system.
Working/Environmental Conditions:- Prolonged standing and/or walking.
- Handling light weight objects.
