Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Assurance Supervisor to lead our QA/QC team in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of food products. This role is critical in maintaining food safety standards, regulatory compliance (e.g., FDA, USDA, SQF), and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate has a strong background in food manufacturing quality systems and a passion for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Supervise daily QA operations including raw material inspection, system conversions, in-process checks, and finished product testing.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations such as FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP, and SQF.
Lead investigations into quality issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Maintain and audit quality documentation, including batch records, test results, and sanitation logs.
Train and mentor QC HACCP Specialists on food safety protocols, testing procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with production, sanitation, and R&D teams to support product quality and process improvements.
Participate in internal and external audits and inspections.
Monitor environmental and allergen control programs.
Assure compliance to plant, regulatory and quality assurance requirements in raw material inspection, in-process quality control, labeling, finished product evaluation, GMP, housekeeping, pest control and other related food safety and quality matters.
Maintain integrity and quality standards of product through effective monitoring of manufacturing processes, conditions within the plants and through physical, chemical, and microbial analysis.
Understand testing requirements including microbiological issues within Branding Iron Holdings, its suppliers, and customers. Monitor laboratory policies, procedures, lab safety, lab quality assurance and lab sampler.
Understand and monitor USDA, HACCP and SSOP procedures
Daily assignment of technicians to stations based on scheduling needs.
Resolve Paylocity for QA team monitor breaks, vacations, etc.
Order QA supplies
Maintain proactive working knowledge of USDA regulations that impact Branding Iron Holdings.
Maintain effective training program within QC and as required for plant personnel.
Monitor statistical analysis programs utilizing programs of SPC and SQC. Maintain the appropriate computer skills and programs necessary to achieve this requirement.
Assist in investigating and resolving customer complaints.
Monitor customer product specifications to meet customer requirements.
Maintain specification characteristics in GainSeeker
Proofread packaging.
Monitor compliance with Food Security Policy.
Maintain QC department staffing and training.
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in food manufacturing quality control, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.
Experience with microbiological and chemical testing methods.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
Minimum Qualifications
HACCP certification or SQF Practitioner certification.
Experience with third-party audits (e.g., USDA, SQF, FDA).
Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
Benefits Overview
Competitive base salary ($50,000- $70,000 annual annually). Base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Full benefits package, including medical/ vision/ dental/life insurance, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including an annual incentive program based on individual and company performance.
