Responsible for operating heavy equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, and skid loaders, alongside hand and power tools to ensure the safety and efficiency of the operation. Generally, works as part of a work crew. Work is performed frequently in cooperation with skilled trade employees, experienced equipment operators, technicians, or crew supervisors. Assist Crew Supervisors I's & II's with duties as needed and attend safety classes and meetings regularly. Coordinate with Crew Supervisor I's & II's to determine daily duties and ensure availability of necessary materials and supplies. Perform tasks related to pre-tripping vehicles, including checking materials needed for jobs and inputting job locations into GPS for efficient navigation. Set up safety cones and ensure the safety of work areas before beginning maintenance tasks. Clean-up work areas after completing tasks, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness. Collects scrap and leftover materials; blows debris from sidewalks. Check with supervisors daily to determine assigned tasks and ensure proper preparation. Conduct tasks related to unblocking service cleanouts, locating sources of spills, and clearing debris from catch basins and storm lines. Diagnoses and address causes of cave-ins and operate equipment such as Vactors and hand rods to remove blockages in service lines. Safeguard work areas and flag traffic to ensure crew safety during maintenance activities. Unstop sewers and house connections, cleans catch basins, repairs caveins, locates water service connections and water main lines; marks service connections, water mains and sewer lines. Checks utility truck to assure that proper equipment and tools are present and in working order; requests approval for necessary materials to complete assigned work orders.
