The Jitney Driver will provide transportation services in the Waterville area so students can attend various appointments and visit area businesses. The driver will be expected to respond to calls for service in a timely and professional manner. The ability to coordinate several stops in the most efficient manner is a must.
Essential Functions
To perform successfully in this position, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily as well as possess education/experience, employ the knowledge, skills, and abilities as listed in representative fashion. Jitney driver must be capable of managing drop off and pick up pints in an efficient manner
Provide informational assistance and promote good public relations
Pickup and deliver mail twice a day to and from off campus facilities
Maintain an alertness for suspicious activities during shift
Participate in on-the-job training
Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions
Maintain confidential of medical and mental health appointments
Enforce College policies and complete necessary reports and paperwork
Display exemplary customer service skills and ensure positive interactions with the community
Act as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as part of the Security Team.
Position Qualifications
Education and/or experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; professional coursework or post-secondary education a plus
Valid class C driver's license - capable of driving a minivan and occasional a 10 passenger van, and must meet Colby's Fleet Safety Policy requirements
Must present a neat, clean, and professional image
Ability to be reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfill obligations
Additional training and certifications in First Aid, CPR and First Responder Training preferred, although Colby College will provide certification and updates
Must meet CDL federal requirements, including random drug and alcohol testing
Well-developed public relations skills; able to perform duties in a flexible, non-confrontational environment; utilize diplomacy and tact in dealing with sensitive situations
Ability to work independently and sit and drive for long periods of time
A working knowledge of Waterville streets and the ability to navigate around the area in an efficient manner
Effectively operate a variety of equipment including portable/mobile radios and computers
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to complete clear, concise, and accurate logs, reports, and other documentation
Ability to make an impact through work as a member of a team and diverse community

While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the office space as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities.
There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged personal computer use which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor.
An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds to perform essential position functions.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focus quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasks as well.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds.
