Sanyo Chemical America Inc. seeks R&D Manager - Business Development in Charleroi, PA to oversee research and development initiatives to explore new business opportunities for sales of Sanyo Chemical Industries' proprietary chemical products and technologies; lead key project to develop novel rotational molding micro pellets with antistatic capabilities in collaboration with US plastic compounding partners; drive business expansion of permanent antistatic agents across Americas and Europe; provide technical consultancy on chemical specialty plastic additives and integration into client applications; conduct analyses of clients' emerging products and offer formulation advice; lead marketing strategies for new applications of existing Sanyo Chemical Industries products in North America; analyze market trends to strategically position existing products in new high growth applications; oversee key project introducing our TPU powder into the rotational molding market; research new technologies by establishing communication channels with US start-up companies; engage with start-up associations to collaborate with key industry players, identifying companies whose technologies align with Sanyo Chemical group's strategic goals. Local telecommuting is permitted. Requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Chemistry, Material Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related field. Two years of research and development experience in the plastics and/or chemical industry. Experience must include antistatic agents, specifically developing new applications and formulations, addressing complex application challenges, adapting products for various industrial needs, identifying and resolving potential materials compatibility issues, technical troubleshooting, and optimizing product performance. Must have knowledge of polymer structure grades, and organic synthesis targeting the development of new functional molecules. Travel is required to US and international locations more than 50% of the time, about 1-7 days per trip, for customer meetings (sales and technical support), attending exhibitions, providing instruction for trial productions, and other business reasons as needed.
